Young Artists Help Dundonald International Ice Bowl mark 40th Birthday Milestone

Young pupils have been named winners of a special ‘Design a Birthday Card’ competition marking Dundonald International Ice Bowl’s 40th birthday this September.

Primary 1 to Primary 3 pupils from four local primary schools were invited to decorate a birthday card template using paint, colouring materials or their own creative designs.

The competition was part of the venue’s Big Birthday Bash celebrations, giving children the opportunity to play a special role in celebrating one of the area’s much-loved local attractions.

Councillor Sharon Lowry, Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, judged the colourful entries and chose the winning designs, “It was wonderful to see such creativity from our young people as they helped Dundonald International Ice Bowl celebrate this special milestone. The standard of entries was excellent, and I want to congratulate everyone who took part.”

The winners were selected in the following categories:

Primary 1

• 1st place: Cali Tsang, Brooklands Primary School
• 2nd place: Maisie Myles, Brooklands Primary School
• 3rd place: Emma Hedley, Brooklands Primary School

Primary 2

• 1st place: Macie McCleary, Brooklands Primary School
• 2nd place: Benjamin Lowe, Brooklands Primary School
• 3rd place: Reggie Jackson, Brooklands Primary School

Primary 3

• 1st place: Mia Bryk-Szostak, Dundonald Primary School
• 2nd place: Ruby McCluggage, Dundonald Primary School
• 3rd place: Anna-May McDowall, Dundonald Primary School

As part of the celebrations, each first-place winner received a class trip to Dundonald International Ice Bowl, where they and their classmates will enjoy an activity of their choice at a future date.

Second-place winners received a special goody bag, including a family pass to Dundonald International Ice Bowl, while third-place winners also received a family pass.

Families can view the entries in Dundonald International Ice Bowl ahead of the venue’s 40th birthday celebrations on Saturday 26 September.
