Suitable for individuals aged 4 and over with physical and mobility-related disabilities. Participants can take to the ice with the specially adapted sledge, which has two skate blades mounted on a metal bracket which supports a metal frame and plastic seat. Fully adjustable, the sledge can accommodate a range of user sizes. With the use of two short ice hockey sticks, equipped with small picks, the user can manoeuvre around the ice using their upper body strength. Wheelchair users are welcome to the sessions.
Trained Dundonald International Ice Bowl staff will be on hand during the Disability Sledge sessions to provide assistance and Belfast Giant players will also be in attendance at future sessions, match schedule permitting.
Inclusive Ice Skating sessions are ideal for individuals, aged 4 and over, with autism spectrum disorders, those with sensory sensitivities and non-mobility-related disabilities.
Participants can take to the ice with our brand new specialised skating aids, which are fully height adjustable and suitable up to a maximum of 220 pounds (lb) in weight. Trained Ice Bowl staff will assist with the fitting of the skating aids to the individual’s requirements before the session begins.
Spaces for both sessions are limited and pre-booking is essential.
